CA WORKER'S COMP CRISIS
To: All California Far West MembersBack to the Main PageAs everyone is aware Worker's compensation premiums have increased dramatically in California. The California chamber of commerce has met recently to discuss an industry strategy. For your information more than 50 bills have been introduced that could have major impacts on your business.
FWEDA has recently been informed that there will be additional premium increases around July 1, 2003. We obviously have a system that is seriously broken and in need of reform.
It is extremely important that we unite with other industries and voice our concerns about worker's compensation. Would you please put your letterhead on the attached sample letter and forward it to your local legislators. Please go to www.fweda.com, click on Worker's Comp Form Letter, you can cut and paste or print to your letterhead. You can also find your legislator here and obtain their email address, phone or fax number.
Your associations will be supporting four main reform measures - medical utilization, objective standards for permanent disability, reform of outrageous fines and penalties and litigation reduction. We suggest this platform for personal discussion with your local legislators.
Please take the time and mail or personally deliver letters to your appropriate state senator and assemblyman.
Time is of the essence so please act today.
Sincerely,
Richard Bottini
Chairman, Legislative Affairs Committee
